Fixes for exporting pdfs (and images)

Fixes for exporting pdfs (and images) #80

This fixes some issues with exporting pdfs (and images):

The file extension is set automatically if it is missing (this is the only change to images, the rest is just for pdf)
Background color now works
Changed grid lines
- larger dots (previously they would not render in some pdf viewers)
- removed difference between exporting a pdf and printing
