2 months ago This is essentially a duplicate of #543: the tiler needs to generate a centroid point feature for each area we want to label at its centroid. In the absence of a point feature, the stylesheet is labeling the area with point placement, which appears as tessellation. This is a good demonstration of why the solution for #543 cannot be that mappers need to map the points themselves: not every area is a boundary that can be modeled as a boundary relation.

It appears OHM is trying to fill aeroway=aerodrome areas with as many airplane icons as it can.
I just mapped Brussels Airport in OHM and this is what it looks like:
One icon like in OSM should be enough :^)
