Fixes for XCode Sonoma and rendering artefacts in Sonoma Beta #246

Draft changes for Sonoma compatibility, remove all rendering artifacts, improve speed and reduce memory usage.

Please do not ridicule me for my coding, my experience with Swift is pre-beginners stage.

@diepeterpan Apologies for the late response, unfortunately life has't been easy for me during the past months. I hope you can understand my situation. I would not be as busy for the next few months and we'd like to incorporate your changes in the next release.

Would you mind either:

  1. Reopening this PR without the cosmetic changes (I will need to check whether we have rights to remix the Icon)
  2. Allowing me to cherry pick some commits from your repository
