Description

If an app is installed to the main and work profiles then two icons appear in the drawer - one for the main profile app and one for the work profile app. But the icons are identical and there is nothing to between distinguish them. Usually the Android system draws a symbol in the corner of the icon. If you start both apps and go to the recent apps switcher then you will see both apps with the work one having the symbol drawn it. Can you please enable that for the work app icons?

Also, if you unlock the drawer and hold down the icons to bring up their context menu and select app info you will see that both icons only show details for the main app and not for the work app. As an example, my browser in the main profile uses 200Mb and the work one uses less than 100Mb, but both show the former. Again, using the recents switcher to get their app infos is correct.

I also have this problem. Also, if you temporarily disable the work profile, both icons open to personal version. Sorry, this is a little hard to explain. On a different launcher, this is what happens...

• When the profile is active, the work icons have a little 💼 symbol on them.
• When the profile is deactivated, the work icons are greyed out.
• If you click on a deactivated icon, you get a prompt to activate work profile.

Here's what happens with Open Launcher...

• Work and Personal versions of an app have the same icon.
• When deactivated, clicking the work icon opens the personal app.
• But if you only have a work version of an app, it prompts you to turn on work mode.

This also interferes with shelter, for example it's not possible to use shelter's unfreeze-shortcut-functions. Shelter says something like "couldn't add this shortcut to your launcher".

Nobody is working on profiles, or specifically Work profile. So if you are interested in getting a version of OpenLauncher where it works - you (THE READER) need to make the improvements and make a merge request.

I came here looking for clarity on profiles as well. [Island User] hoped a dev was working on implementing some changes, but I (THE COMMENTER) don't know a lot about android development. Way to be gsantner.

@CircularPastry unfortunately there is no active development or active contributor since long time. So if you won't develop it on your own, or can find somebody to do it you will be out of luck.

I came to this project to make a great piece of software, but everybody else (including original creator) left and so I am alone here. And people just keep asking for stuff, but not spending their own time to help & fix it. With that situation of only asking, but not giving back, I don't want to waste my free time .
