Try updating to sphinx 5 or even 6 beta #316

Since it is a major update, we should test it locally first.

I think I upgraded to 5. Some of our plugins here or in OpenMS-docs are not compatible with 6 yet.

Oh no, I actually upgraded to 6.1.0. Be careful when developing on both docs though. I think OpenMS-docs is not compatible with 6 then.
