Update Plex Media Server

Hi, I have encountered a problem with the update of Plex: I have correctly installed the plugin and updated but nellinterfaccia are notified that the server is not updated, and proceed manually. How do I upgrade it?

Is this an RPi? OMV 2.x? If both answers are yes, you can't update and need to install the OMV 3.x image.

I can't see the end of the error message which is probably where the important info in that message is. I will say have deb-multimedia is problematic. Bananian is not exactly Debian Wheezy either. So, it has been known to have issues with OMV due to different package versions.

Server cert verification is more of a warning. Disable btsync repo and disable the tvheadend repo.

You need to remove (or comment out) the tvheadend repo in /etc/apt/sources.list first.

Good news, I changed the name of sources.list sources.list.old so as to "eliminate" Now I tried to do a test and not by more error :)

But I do not find any updates of plex and OMV is the 3.4.22 version what can I do?

You don't want to change the name of that file. You won't get any Debian updates. Just edit it with: nano /etc/apt/sources.list delete the bad lines or comment them with a # at the beginning ctrl-o to save, ctrl-x to exit apt-get update

The plex package name changed on the RPi. You need to remove plexmediaserver and install plexmediaserver-installer. I haven't tested this on bananian so I don't know if the package works. If you remove the plexmediaserver package first, it will uninstall the plugin. If you install the plexmediaserver-installer package first and then remove the plexmediaserver package, it may remove something you need. Make a backup before trying any of it....

apt-get install plexmediaserver-installer apt-get remove plexmediaserver

but why then should I remove it? with: apt-get remove plexmediaserver

They are two different packages that install the same program. They shouldn't be on the system at the same time. I guess you could leave plexmediaserver since there will never be an update for it.

The guide you are referring to is only about omv-extras plugin not openmediavault itself. You cannot use omv-extras 3.x and openmediavault 3.x on wheezy.

You are going to break your system if you install omv-extras 3.x on omv 2.x.

ok ok, I am confused between "OMV" end "OMV-extras"

So now drain the version 3 of "OMV", the whole system. I downloaded version 2 of the 3 because I know still in beta right?

OMV-extras is a plugin for OMV that enables omv-extras.org repos which contain addition third party plugins.

3 is stable in my opinion but I think everything is beta on bananian.

Good evening (or at least here it is evening), I was able to install OMV 3 with Plex now runs perfectly (plexserver 3.8.1 which should be the last). Now everything is fine except for one small detail :( I can not cmq to see my films. I always very large files, even the smallest weigh at least 5GB and if I try to start them I get the error message which says that I do not have enough space in the HDD for the conversion, although in truth I still have 134 GB.

Ideas?

Sounds like a permissions issue but I don't use plex. So, I'm not much help on this problem.

Plex via the extras repo is behind the publicly available version. Additionally, if I try to manually install the .deb file, it generates an nginx error.

For arm boards, it is behind because there is no official repo like i386 and amd64. I just uploaded the latest .deb from https://dev2day.de/pms/pool/main/p/plexmediaserver-installer/. This is what I always use. I have no idea what .deb you tried to install but if this one doesn't work, then not sure what to tell you.

The problem is that I get the error "Request Entity Too Large nginx" when I try to upload the package.

You shouldn’t upgrade from within plex on arm systems. Wait for updates in the OMV Updates tab.
