Logging penalty

First time ever that toon gets a logging penalty EVER:

You have suffered some penalties for logging off in an unsafe area: You lost 1 items, 2 spell points, and 2 skill points.

Is it a bug or there is no longer any free pen?

Also it did not bring me at my latest safe location or home town. But it brought me to Cor Noth, my birth town that I changed.

There's a new setting for flat pens that is currently on. All pens will be 1/2%/2% for whites, 2/4%/4% for reds.

There's a new setting for last-safe-room penalties that is currently on. Pens send you to the last safe room you visited in the region. Cor Noth is the default room for regions that have no safe room, such as the caves or brax.

I already intend to create some sort of mitigation for flat pens for those not involved in combat. Phil's Camp spell, and separately a pvp timer or something similar, should give options for avoiding flat pens for those that aren't in combat.

I see it that way: -PvP flag on: Never free pen. PvP needs consequences. -Red: never free pen. There are consequences. -Orange is the wild card. Many people become orange by accident it seems. -No pvp flag and white: free pen. this is really the safeguard between PvP and PvH. Here, I would not make unlimited free pen. Let's say 3 or 4 per day? It is enough in case you get logged by the casual pker a few times and you can go on and play. That system would be awesome.

I agree with the general sentiment but 3 or 4 free pens a day would be a bit much ;p

It was just a number I threw in. Maybe 1-2 or 2-3. I have no idea how much it would make to make it balanced really. However, I know two players who are very clumsy and would benefits form it...:)

there should be a freepen for just crashed by server, perhaps toons without guild in towns, no pvp possible, in marion for example for all as a pvpfree zone

Pvp = shield war, guild war, pker vs hunter Pvh = player who get attacked by a pker I coined the term pvh a while ago. It is player versus harassment. Whatever some people say, a lot of players do not care about pvp. They play to build, to kill monsters and talk with friends. Why would they be penalized for the non consenting entertainment of someone else?

Because this is Meridian 59, not Hello Kitty Online. PvP has always been forced upon people, if a PKer seriously is able to keep you offline for 8 minutes the problem does not lie within the mechanic, but with the players themselves.

You seem to like to dub everything you do not like as "harassment", which is childish at best. I really would like to know your definition of harassment and how knowingly being in an unsafe area and getting attacked you feel harassed when you yourself actually let it happen. You are to blame. Let's just make it so that you have a PvP flag that you can toggle on and off like the safety so you can't be attacked if you don't want to.

Make the game even more of a joke than it is now.

He's not wrong to be concerned. 101 was destroyed by rampant harassment more than anything else. Official definition of harassment: the ability for a negative-minded individual or group to completely shut down the play of a neutral-minded individual or group using abusive tactics.

Casting Truce with a mule so a neutral can't build is harassment.

Seeking out specific neutral individuals repeatedly logging/killing them so that they can't build or play is harassment. This means people who want nothing to do with you, not your enemies.

Random PKing is not harassment.

Attacking a veteran enemy is never harassment. You do what you have to do kill and win!

Broadcasting stupid nonsense 18 hours a day is harassment on the atmosphere itself.

I don't think kestak is talking about anyone we have on 103. Most are sensible people, even the PKs. No, the behavior we're all wary of was 101's incessant and insane sociopathic behavior, which we seem to have left behind... for now.

I do not see a reason for there to be no free pen, I think it's a bit ridiculous that the server could go down or be brought down when someone is botting in a guild hall or the likes and be inconvenienced with a pen. The server has very bad connection, I personally LSC a lot. I have not taken a pen from it yet but I feel that will be the case eventually. 1 freebie on an innocent every 24-48 hours wouldn't be so bad.
