This is the catch-all issue for discussing world maps for the game.
As far as I can tell, what we really need are two separate world maps:
An accurate map with rooms connected, e.g. http://i.imgur.com/2fkTAtA.jpg. Some of these exist already, but not for the mainland.
An artistic map that doesn't necessarily need to be line-accurate, closer to http://i.imgur.com/pZ5DGwv.jpg than the above image.
It's likely some (mainland) rooms will need slight modification for an accurate map, and some new rooms might even be necessary - previous work on a world map shows quite a few large gaps where areas of the game don't really fit well together (e.g. http://i.imgur.com/lCqGTOC.png).
An accurate map could be shown to users via a map item or as part of the client UI somewhere, only showing rooms as they are visited (e.g. new users get a blank map except for Raza). The artistic map would be used in a gameplay guide/reference. Each map could also be divided into sections, with separate maps for mainland, island, orc caves and Brax.
Edit: the new room editor could be of use here - multiple mainland maps can be pasted into the editor (and are kept at the correct scale/size) and used to construct large maps for screenshots. This process would also enable the issues with rooms not fitting together correctly to be fixed.
Example (MG Tos, BoB, flatlands, outskirts of BQ): http://i.imgur.com/7D59ano.png
Edit: A forum thread also exists for this: https://www.meridiannext.com/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=7&p=32
