Question on multi-camera network setup #137

Hi!

Here's our setup: one computer as the master without camera and one computer with an azure.

I'm using openptrack V2.2 but since the page for the camera network calibration for the v2 is empty, i assume that the camera network calibration on the v1 wiki will work just the same. i've done the pre calibration part and i've done this with success:

  1. Create calibration launch files

To create launch files needed for calibration, run the following on the master PC:

roslaunch opt_calibration calibration_initializer.launch

And run the following on every PC (including the master):

roslaunch opt_calibration listener.launch

i'm now at the 4. Perform multi-sensor calibration. part.

when i launch roslaunch optcalibration sensor.launch on the pc with my sensor, i get No processes to monitor shutting down processing monitor....

i'm a missing something here?

Information on Camera Network Calibration for V2 is here. The page is not empty.

However, we currently only have support for single camera tracking for the Kinect Azure in OPT v2.2. It is possible to extend that to multi-camera tracking though.

From my last conversation with Blair, it would entail adding the Azure sensor to the listener.py which would create the necessary launch files and then troubleshooting any errors that may pop up.

We do not have any Azure at VU yet so I cannot currently test that.

Yes, once single node detection is working, the extension to multicamera is really just the configuration step / launch files.

We have tested the Zed v1 in house; I believe the Zed v2 presents the same interface. If not, the two steps are to confirm the drivers and then update the calibration listener/launch files. There are some folks locally doing some testing; I will ask them.

So now we replaced our azure with a kinectv2 we had lying around so we could test further. when i launch roslaunch opt_calibration sensor sensor_imager2.launch on one of our imager after doing roslaunch opt_calibration opt_calibration_master.launch on our master, i still get No processes to monitor shutting down processing monitor...

i tought i've got that before because the azure wasn't supported like you said but i get this with a kinectv2 as well.

Is there any extra term in the command here (“sensor”)?

roslaunch opt_calibration sensor sensor_imager2.launch

It seems i've made a typo when writing my message here.

The command i use is the same as in the literature.

Yes, once single node detection is working, the extension to multicamera is really just the configuration step / launch files.

We have tested the Zed v1 in house; I believe the Zed v2 presents the same interface. If not, the two steps are to confirm the drivers and then update the calibration listener/launch files. There are some folks locally doing some testing; I will ask them.

Alright thank you, i'll look into the listener.py. In the meantime, since we can't use azure for multi-camera, my lead is looking into buying another camera. He saw the Zed on the supported hardware page and the zed 2 just came out and he wanted to know if it's supported. (since it just came out, I'm sure it isn't. Might be a matter of adding it to the listener.py if not)

From my last conversation with Blair, it would entail adding the Azure sensor to the listener.py which would create the necessary launch files and then troubleshooting any errors that may pop up.

We do not have any Azure at VU yet so I cannot currently test that.

So now we replaced our azure with a kinectv2 we had lying around so we could test further. when i launch roslaunch opt_calibration sensor sensor_imager2.launch on one of our imager after doing roslaunch opt_calibration opt_calibration_master.launch on our master, i still get No processes to monitor shutting down processing monitor...

i tought i've got that before because the azure wasn't supported like you said but i get this with a kinectv2 as well.

So now we replaced our azure with a kinectv2 we had lying around so we could test further. when i launch roslaunch opt_calibration sensor sensor_imager2.launch on one of our imager after doing roslaunch opt_calibration opt_calibration_master.launch on our master, i still get No processes to monitor shutting down processing monitor...

i tought i've got that before because the azure wasn't supported like you said but i get this with a kinectv2 as well.

Yes, once single node detection is working, the extension to multicamera is really just the configuration step / launch files.

We have tested the Zed v1 in house; I believe the Zed v2 presents the same interface. If not, the two steps are to confirm the drivers and then update the calibration listener/launch files. There are some folks locally doing some testing; I will ask them.

Alright thank you, i'll look into the listener.py. In the meantime, since we can't use azure for multi-camera, my lead is looking into buying another camera. He saw the Zed on the supported hardware page and the zed 2 just came out and he wanted to know if it's supported. (since it just came out, I'm sure it isn't. From my last conversation with Blair, it would entail adding the Azure sensor to the listener.py which would create the necessary launch files and then troubleshooting any errors that may pop up.

plbergeron commented 3 years ago

So, what i was doing wrong is I was adding the master in the camera_network.yaml.

I was able to do the calibration but now, when I run roslaunch detection detectionnode.launch enable_pose:=false enable_object:=false enable_people_tracking:=true on both my imager node (imager1 and imager2) I get this:

And it’s still waiting on the master.

Both imager was set to yolo I changed it to hog and I retried and I got the same error.

The images you shared are not showing.

Also did you replace the "" portion of the command with the specific sensor ID you gave the sensor in your camera_network.yaml file ?

Your camera_network.yaml file seems fine. Is it the same on both computers( with yolo changed to hog?)

The message from master also seems fine. The main issue seems to be with the detection node. The error shown should not be happening since you are not running the object module. Please confirm that in both cases, you are running the object flag set to false.

I figured out what the issue was. I forgot that I was messing around in listener.py on my master. I grabbed an unmodified listerner.py from one of my imagers and everything’s working. Thank you so much for all your help.

Great. I also confirmed with the developer that had been working on the Azure that a launch file and listener.py update should be all that is necessary for multi-camera support.
