Investigate CMake #70

I started to use meson (and ninja) for other projects , maybe we can evaluate meson as build system as well. I volunteer for this task :-)

I'm a fan of meson because the syntax is more pleasant compared to CMake imho. Currently I'm a bit short on time but in general I can assist with a meson port.
