To extract text-wise diplomatic editions from initial Pedurma editions. Prepare API to get the text-wise diplomatic editions.
Is This Really Necessary?
It is necessary as buddha nexus processes everything in text-wise. It will be helpful in the near future for other Openpecha users to directly get all the text in Katen via an API call.
Motivation
We want to make the text in initial Pechas more accessible.
Named Concepts
Open edition - Open edition is an edition that is digital-born and meant to be improved by open sourcing the text.
Diplomatic edition - Diplomatic edition is that edition through which we are trying to represent something tangible manuscript as accurate as possible.
Buddha Nexus - A database devoted to the study of Buddhist texts and literary corpora in Pāli, Sanskrit, Tibetan, and Chinese, with particular emphasis on the evolution of scriptures, formation of canons, and intellectual networks. Refer here.
Examples
1) You will be able to access texts in Pedurma by a call of an API.
2) As of now, we don't have such API call. We have to make separate script to extract texts from initial Pedurma OPFS*
3) As a result of this RFW, Openpecha users will able to access texts in Pedurma Katen through an API call.*
4) If applicable, provide sample messages for any new messages the system will display as a result of this RFW.*
Conceptual Design
Text will be extracted from the initial Pedurma OPFs and made into separate diplomatic edition OPFs. An API endpoint will be prepared to access those OPFs in multiple views.
Drawbacks
Will be needing manual intervention which might slow down the progress to achieve the goal. But the intervention will guarantee accuracy or quality.
Alternatives
Alternative solution is to prepare a separate script to take initial OPFs as input and text id as input and serialize the text in required views. For that solution, we need some technical person to run the script else it would be challenging to get the texts.
New Data
If applicable, explain clearly the new data artifacts that will result from implementing this proposed work.
Adaption Window
We are expecting to finish the request within two months.
