it seems that, if you scan from too far, the container pop and the mission does not update.
A workaround is to tell the player to go really near the spot and rescan.
This is likely a DB value on this particular artifact type. Adjust this value so players are close enough to cause it to pop but not so close it becomes difficult with low accuracy scanners
