The bug appear to be in cups-browsed
.
You can try adding the printer manually after uninstalling the cups-browsed
and then check if it prints or not.
Uninstall the cups-browsed.
sudo apt-get purge --autoremove cups-browsed
Now add the printer manually. Check if the printing works now.
@abergmeier, could you try the newest release of cups-filters, 1.28.6? I have done some performance improvements on cups-browsed. Does this work for you?
I installed 1.28.6 from hirsute. Then did:
service cups-browsed restart
service cups restart
Afterwards it for now seems to works.
And it breaks again.
So the temporary workaround is:
service cups-browsed restart
service cups restart
1.28.6 did not fix it.
Getting this quite often. Used to restart the entire system; but now, the systemd restart commands noted above seem to work - for a little while.
Pop!_os 21.10 (about to upgrade soon; but, it's newer cups than posted above - and same issues).

I have Ubuntu 20.04 with cups-browsed and cups-filter at 1.27.4-1. When I try to print, the printer pauses.
Looking into
localhost:631
the error message isA few logs:
I am kind of confused why the local is available even with an offline printer.
This is the same printer so I really would like to have it only once in CUPS.
