Create products for all VR events

I took a first pass at creating products for all VR events. We can create them on this instance and then import to our staging environment when ready.

All the products are displayed here - https://commerce-angelcityjazz.pantheonsite.io/wp-admin/edit.php?product_cat=concerts&post_type=product

Product attributes

Elements include the following -

Title

• probably should be something like what's listed (but with the correct venue)

Description

• Full description of the event
• Probably would add info about the video format(s)

Product data

Product Type

• Simple product
• Virtual
• Name Your Price

  General

  • Suggested Price ($)
  • Minimum Price ($)
  • Maximum Price ($)

    Inventory

    

  • SKU - probably should enter one
  • Manage stock - N/A
  • Stock status - not sure if we can hide this
  • Sold individually - this should be selected

    Linked Products

    

  • Upsells - Upsells are products which you recommend instead of the currently viewed product, for example, products that are more profitable or better quality or more expensive.
  • Cross-sells - Cross-sells are products which you promote in the cart, based on the current product.

    Attributes

    

  • Custom product attribute - think we can leave alone

    Advanced

    

  • Purchase note - Enter an optional note to send the customer after purchase.
  • Menu order - Customized order; might use to sync up display to event/release date?

Restrict Content

• Think we leave as is

  Grant Access

  

• Purchasing product grants access to - I believe we need a membership plan for every event/product; will followup with Woo support to make sure

• Not sure if we'd set this up; will research more

• probably should be the same image used for the event (cover and featured image)

The products were quickly created a while ago but can be updated and then exported to the Bluehost staging site when we have it all set up and tested.

I've also been making some progress getting memberships to do what we want https://github.com/OpenProducer/angelcityjazz/issues/19

It's easy for me to configure memberships for each product if you want to revise and fill out the rest.

As we're not on the production environment, it's ok again to hack around and break stuff!

Ok, I was able to log in. I think that on the event pages we want to add the product purchase options in the block next to the release date but we will have to remove the images and just display the text. I tried to do so but couldn't find a way to do that. If I remove the image it will display a placeholder where the image would go.

A few questions:

• what pages are the restricted videos uploaded to? I want these to be dedicated pages and not the event pages. Do you have one set-up I could look at?
• if someone purchases a 24h access pass before the release date, when will the counter start? WHen they start playing the video or when they access the page with the video?
• can we set the festival pass so that people have unlimited access to all videos (Not just 24h)?
• Ater purchasing access how are people directed to the video pages? I initially thought these would be the product pages but the system doesn;t seem to work that way. Even after purchasing a product, the product page only gives the option to purchase again.

• what's the best way to display the release date and availability to the video pages? In particular what will show on the page before their release date?

Would it be simpler if we make the video available for 30 days to whoever purchases access and remove the 24h restriction? THe more I look at the set-up it seems complicated enough. If removing the 24h restriction simplifies things, we should do it.
