Within the next weeks or months I will (and should) upgrade the Debian on buegelfalte.openrailwaymap.org to a newer version (or, what I prefer, rent a new server from Hetzner Serverbörse for half the price and set it up from scratch).
OpenRailwayMap currently uses a patched version of Mailman 3 because Mailman 3 had bugs w.r.t. to encoding back then (e.g. using ASCII instead of unicode for email footers). Setting up Mailman 3 is a lot of work because it consists of about half a dozen of servers – even if one uses the Debian packages. I would like to invest my time into more beneficial projects than a mailing list used for a few emails per month.
Therefore, I plan to drop the mailing list service and suggest to use https://community.openstreetmap.org/ (the new OSM forum with email interface). I will keep the archive as a static web site (URLs will be kept).
