Session intent (what to expect)

• No requirements to join the intro session or SUTD NihonGo
• Participants will get to learn more about what SUTD NihonGo is and what it does
• Participants will also get to try a Japanese culture-related activity similar to those found during our regular cultural sessions

Session details Date: 20 September (Week 2 Monday) Venue: Think Tank 17 (if unavailable, Think Tank 16 is most preferred alternative) Time: 8 - 10 pm Expected max turnout: 28, including 4 exco members as presenters

Programme:

• 8 - 8.30 pm: Short intro presentation on NihonGo's activities
• 8.30 - 9.30 pm: Cultural activity: Participants will get to enjoy a presentation on beigoma (Japanese spinning tops) and try them out for themselves within their own groups. In case the game cannot be prepared due to time/technical concerns, a card game (koi-koi, using flower cards) will be prepared instead.
• 9.30 - 10 pm: Time allocated for discussions within groups and/or questions about the club or SUTD life

Throughout the event, participants will be grouped into groups of 4, each seated around a table. As of 22/6/2021, Think Tank 16 has maximum capacity of 30 and Think Tank 17 has maximum capacity of 28 as prescribed by OSL. Please see the seating arrangement as follows.

Safety concerns and measures:

• Safe distancing: to prevent mixing, participants will be pre-allocated seats and not allowed to mix together throughout the session. They will be required to keep a distance of 3m from other groups and 1m within groups.
• Cultural activity (beigoma - spinning tops): launching the tops require swinging motions, and participants may hit others within the same group while doing so. To prevent this, we will remind participants to check first for other participants in their immediate vicinity, and to take turns instead of attempting to launch tops simultaneously.

Do note that claims are done via concur with valid receipts required, so giving a clearer breakdown can facilitate a smoother process for budet approval. Cheers!

Hi @naffins Just to update from our end that your budget of $10 has been approved! Do remember to keep your receipts as the claim process will be done via concur.

Also, your venue will nowbe at Think Tank 18 from 8-10pm.

Proposed changes for intro session:

• Reopen registration at same link until Monday morning
• Move event to club Discord server
• Cancel cultural presentation portion
• Remove limit on number of participants
