Session Name KLEC Introduction Session

Abstract Learn how to write your name in Korean and customize your own Korean Name Tags. (Limited sets available)

Student Organisation organising this session Korean Language Enrichment Club (KLEC)

Event Format Physical

Session intent (what to expect) Introduce Freshmores to KLEC sessions, where we learn Korean through Korean Culture (K-Pop, K-Dramas, K-Variety, Webtoons, etc) and games. Freshmores also get to interact with fellow students and seniors that also share the same interest in Korean Culture.

During the Introduction Session, participants will learn Hangul characters, and apply it to write their own names in Korean. The first ten signups for each session will get a chance to customize their own Korean Name Tags.

No prerequisite knowledge is required, anyone can join since we will be starting with the basics. Don’t miss the chance to have free Korean lessons.

Session details 2 sessions (16 and 20 Sep 2021), 6.30pm-8pm Think Tank required, but we will book on our side

Speakers/Workshop facilitators Carol, President – Term 3 Freshmore Siyang, Vice-President – Term 3 Freshmore

Sign up link(if any) https://forms.office.com/r/YB8fdWNpwK

Logistical details / Budget Needed $100 for 20 Name Tags Justification: Name tags are closely related to popular Korean Culture (school children in Korea have these type of name tags, which are often shown in Korean Dramas with a school setting) and it ties in with our Introduction Session activity, as they are applying what they have learnt about the Korean alphabet during the session.

It would also serve as a memorable memento for participants and a potential conversation starter amongst Freshmores when they pin the Name Tags on everyday items (e.g. bags, pencil cases), hence helping Freshmores to socialize in settings beyond the Introduction Session (e.g. Cohort Classroom).

Hi @wangsiyang68 , thanks for submitting your event proposal! Could I request that you write a short justification for the $200 to be spent on name tags? It will be difficult to get funding without it.

It might be a bit difficult for us to help you request for $200 as the average request for funding from other fifth rows are in the range of $50-$100. Would highly recommend for you to reconsider how we can incentivise sign ups (maybe provide snacks or drinks?)

Thanks!

wangsiyang68 commented 2 years ago

OK, updated budget and added justification

Hi @wangsiyang68 ,

May I clarify what's the number of facilitators and the number of participants? This is so that we could know the expected number of attendees for your event.

Would be great if you could let me know by today.

Thank you xx

wangsiyang68 commented 2 years ago

Hi @castlemas,

Expected number of attendees: 20 Facilitators: 5

Hi @castlemas,

Expected number of attendees: 20 Facilitators: 5

@wangsiyang68 This means Total attendees = 5 Facils + 15 participants?

wangsiyang68 commented 2 years ago

Sorry, I meant 20 participants + 5 facils Total 25 attendees
