Program Crash when previewing a saved project. #1988

Closed hayestc closed 6 years ago

hayestc commented 6 years ago

Describe the bug After saving a project and exiting the program, I am unable to preview the video I was working on. When I reopen the project, I attempt to preview what I had done, which was put in a picture and then a simple cross-fade transition into the actual video, and upon reaching the cross-fade the entire program crashes. This happened on two different PCs.

System Details (please complete the following information):

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Create a project with a picture that transitions into a video.
  2. Save Project and Close Openshot
  3. Reopen Openshot and load project.
  4. Preview video and see crash when preview hits cross-fade.

Expected behavior A full crash of program.

Screenshots I don't have any screenshots.

Logs How do you get logs?

Additional context NA

@hayestc - How did you apply this cross fade you mentioned?

hayestc commented 6 years ago

I first put the picture in, made it only 7 seconds, then dragged video in and overlapped it by 2 seconds. Used the automatically generated crossfade.

hayestc commented 6 years ago

Also video is AVCHD video from sony camcorder.

DylanC commented 6 years ago

@hayestc - Ah yes, I have heard issues with these automatic crossfades.

michalfita commented 6 years ago

I face same crash on Windows 7. With OpenShot 2.4.3.

this issues seems to be very common with this product, why hasn't a developer release a fix for this; the product would be awesome

peanutbutterandcrackers commented 6 years ago

@noobnoob316 - True. There are a lot of issues with OpenShot. But the thing is, the developers are all just volunteers helping out in their spare time, as this is a Free Software. But we have more and more volunteers joining in. So, this will only get better with time. Please be patient with us. Maybe, join us and help us out, too. There's a lot you can help us out with - documentations, answering in the forums, testing, etc. :+1:

@michalfita - I'm looking at you too, sir. Join us, maybe? :)

@hayestc - This transitions bug has been fixed. See #2125.
