OpenShot Should Inherit Video Properties On First Imported Media #5286

Describe the new feature: This is something I miss from Sony Vegas. When I used to drop in the first video file in a new project, Sony Vegas will automatically inherit the properties [such as width, height, and quality] and change the project to match it. This was great because the first video is usually the only video or all other videos I will add are in the same quality.

For example, if im recording my screen for a tutorial and have a bunch of video files, they will all be the same quality, width, height, etc since its the same screen. Because of this, Vegas would do all the setup for me and all I have to do is edit

If im importing a vertical video taken from my phone, all other clips are usual in vertical mode. Makes making videos for Instagram and TikTok easy since these platforms expect phone-like video properties.

Here is a screenshot of how Vegas would ask you this [taken from a beginner Vegas tutorial] image

Describe the solution you'd like: Explained in the new feature

Describe alternatives you have considered: No alternative. I guess it can be toggable but Sony Vegas had it on by default

Screenshots: (Optional) If applicable, add screenshots to help explain your request.

Yes, this would be great QoL. If this is implemented, it should also be made available if there are already multiple project files, in case I change my mind and want to match my profile to a different video clip. Could be done via context option or in the "chose profile window".

I have submitted an enhancement request in the queue for the lead developer to review. If approved, then it will get into the queue for development. Not ETA on the review at this time.
