renamed database variables from POSTGRES_* to DATABASE_* to conform with the current usage in backend and datastore
fixed path in schema application script
QoL formatting changes

I fixed the formal check errors. IMO we should merge this into the feature branch with the errors from validate.py the models.yml.

Sounds good, I deactivated the model validation in the CI for now.
