Diagram Describing Open Science/OSM Workflow #293

Issue of interest to those with expertise in graphic design.

For the wiki/landing pages we need a simple diagram of the components of the project and the workflow, i.e. primary entry of experimental data into the ELN, discussion here and on soc med, summary on wiki, inputs from people, prioritization of targets through online meetings, hosting of data on public databases etc. This diagram would be made with advice from the core team.

OSM is often asked for a simple description of how it operates, and this would serve as a quick way to convey the basics. If interested, reply below or to opensourcemalaria@gmail.com or on Twitter at O_S_M

Probably a bit too crude, but the diagram I used for my seminar last year has most of the elements needed, arranged roughly on a scale from informal to formal: opensourceresearch

If anyone's interested in using it as a base for improvements, the .ai Illustrator file can be downloaded from here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/z74u24ftiofofay/OpenSourceResearch.ai?dl=0 If someone has access to a vector version of the ELN image, that would help things. Actually, a folder of OSM electronic resources (logos, fonts, colours) would be a generally useful thing that shouldn't be too hard to set up.

Nice Tom, thanks for sharing the original as a starting point. Yes, we need a GitHub repo containing graphics files. Goes on the to do list.
