Let's set up a monthly MycetOS call #34

I think we ought to have monthly hour-long science catch-up meetings for Mycetos that are 1) recorded, 2) put on Youtube and 3) which have associated with them clear action items. @bendndi and @MFernflower have also suggested this. It's been working well over at Open Source Antibiotics Series 2.

The meetings will be open to anyone, but there is no requirement to attend. It's just important to have something in the diary.

If so, we need to consider:

1) Timing. There are no good times, and it depends if we're trying to reach everyone. Here's the comparison of time zones. I'm happy with whatever. Middle of the day UK time has a chance to capture Boston and Sydney folks.

2) Organisation. I don't have the bandwidth to organise and promote these meetings (in part because we've a blitz on the antibiotics meetings). One or more other people need to commit to taking this on. We need someone to set up the recurring Zoom call link, to record the meetings, to download them and then upload them to YouTube, and to formulate clear action items within brief minutes (example). I'd suggest two people for this (one on the recordings, one on the action items). Promotion is also important, and we need someone to take on the responsibility of tweeting out before and after the meetings, and to attempt to reach out to new people who may be interested in attending by virtue of their scientific expertise.

3) When for first meeting. Don't we have one pencilled in? Oct 1st or something?

@mattodd, I think it is a great idea to set up a monthly reoccurring meeting.

  1. Timing. If the time we've been using (see @MFernflower's comment above) works we can just stick with that. If not then we can find a time the suits better.

  2. For the last couple of meetings @fantasy121 has been recording them and has posted them to Youtube and I've been taking minutes which we have been and noting action items in a GitHub Issues. In future we will put in brief minutes and the action items in the same issue similar to the example you have shared. We are happy continue doing this for future meetings. Sign both of us up to do some promotion and tweet before and afterwards to.

  3. Set for next Tuesday (see above)

@MOUSEY007 I do not know if you can make this upcoming meeting since it will be around 2 AM est if not I can present the findings

@MFernflower I'm usually awake at creature hours anyway, it will be nice to meet you all and discuss any questions you may have. Can someone put the link in a clickable state so I can paste this into my schedule as a reminder. As the link above is to a picture and without typing out the link I can't add this to my reminders.
