There's another plant fungicide called paclobutrazol that works just as fenarimol does but has a sort of hybrid structure with both azole and fenarimol like features
I also suspect it can be easily derivatized (provided somebody can get into a Ochem lab and bang out a few derivatives)
Sigma sells a quarter of a gram (analytical grade!!!!!) of it for like $53 USD so it's not too expensive
