Traditionally, open source has been considered bad for business. But the world is changing. Companies focusing on the developer audience are gaining prominence and the strongest products are the closest to the customers.

At WakaTime we follow a morphed model of open and closed source. In this talk I will go over -

  1. Why we chose to open source what we did,
  2. The pros and cons of our choices and,
  3. Where we plan on being in the open-source landscape as we grow our company and revenues.
