Better support and documentation for Windows #43

These changes make it easy to build this project for Windows using Visual Studio. Have NOT tested these changes on Linux yet, so please do so before merging.

Overall this is looking pretty nice and I am getting frames on windows in both window and file outputs.

@alxpettit can you give me a once over that this branch still compiles correctly for you on Linux.
