Given a tree, with:

tips (at minimum) mapped to ott ids, and
data records associated with (some) internal nodes

Produce a set of annotations consistent with that tree.

One test case here is to remove all the internal node values from the tree and then apply the annotations: they should result in an identical tree.

Are you thinking newick or nexson or something else (nexml or such)? I know that eventually we might think of many but for this example, what were your thoughts?

Basically, I could potentially do this for a beast consensus tree where tons is embedded in the nexus.
