remove oti calls #222

Tested on dev, and it works! Caching and github webhooks are fixed. I didn't check the returning of the error message, because it is hard to break in a way that generates that error, but I think that is ok. Mergable (according to me)

@snacktavish Odd that the Travis/CI tests are failing, but I think this is unrelated to your code. Any concerns?
