Never mind about the synonyms, I figured it out myself. (They are synonyms.)
Closing this since it seems to have been resolved.
Only the synonym part of my comment was resolved. The question of whether to count Haptophyta et al. as barrier nodes, and if so which code applies to each group, remains open. Dail offered to help with this.
Cody suggests that we forget about these; it's not a complete list of Eukaryote child taxa anyhow, there are a bunch of minor ones, and it doesn't make sense to list every one as a barrier node.
Missing from taxomachine/src/main/java/org/opentree/taxonomy/BarrierNodes.java Archaea Amoebozoa Excavata Centrohelida Cryptophyceae Haptophyta (same as Haptophyceae ?) Glaucophyta (same as Glaucocystophyceae ?) Rhodophyceae (same as Rhodophyta ?) SAR (Stramenopiles, Alveolata, Rhizaria)
(Except for Archaea, these are the children of Eukaryota, more or less, according to SILVA and OTT.)
Choanoflagellida in OTT sits under Ichthyosporea under Holozoa, so not very close to the root.
I can add the synonyms to OTT if someone will confirm them.
