V2 compatibility layer on top v3 #214

Intended to satisfy #211. This PR incorporates current versions of the tm-lite-tests and tm-lite-injection branches.

Minimal v2 tests pass.

Forget it, going to deploy it on devapi. Will submit a new PR later to merge to master.
