Removal of Re-vive settings Tab. #86

Possibility of Removing the Re-Vive Tab Controller

Rationale

Discussion

While the features in the Re-Vive tab are nice, they should be added directly to the re-vive project or supported in a standalone app outside of Adv-Settings, as it is an extremely niche support case. As it stands a simple standalone application can be quickly generated with the existing code base if it is such desired, While not finalized, and clearly open for discussion.... removing the re-vive tab makes alot of sense and will help not confuse users between similarly named programs and try to get support through the wrong channels.

If there are some reasons that the re-vive tab should be kept, or more reasons to support its removal please put opinions below.

I'm curious where did you get the numbers of ReVive users.

I have an impression it's one of the most popular apps among "advanced" Vive users who want to play Oculus store exclusives.

Idea to create separate app seems OK. My only concern is about increased number of dashboard buttons, and what happens when they don't "fit" under steamvr overlay window.

I wish it would stay. I play a lot of Oculus exclusives in Revive and being able to change the target render multiplier was awesome

I vote for it staying too. And with the Quest coming out with cross-buy on many titles there may be more Vive users that also buy a Quest for portable use that wind up using Revive to play some of those titles.

Going to close for now current plan is to do nothing with it may revisit one way or another at some point in future.

@ykeara I am using Revive currently, as an Index owner. Is this going to be removed? How am I supposed to access Revive based games if that happens?
