Beacon of Ruin + Shock Effectiveness #1280

Open Ruddplays opened 5 years ago

Hello,

Im trying a build using Elementalist's Beacon of Ruin, but I think shock effectiveness is not increasing my damage at all. I created a flask with "50% increased effect of shock" and the damage does not change at all. Can someone explain the reason behind this?

Thanks a lot!

The Shocks from your Hits always increases Damage taken by at least X% mod from Elementalist's Beacon of Ruin and the Ascendant's Elementalist Ascendancy skills will be increased by X% increased Effect of Shock, up to a cap of 50% increased damage taken. For example, with Beacon of Ruin and 20% increased Effect of non-Damaging Ailments on Enemies, the minimum shock would then be 24% increased damage taken. An increased shock effect value of 250% is needed to reach the shock cap of 50% increased damage taken.

Thank you for the answer but that doesn't solve my question. I know Beacon of Ruin inflicts a 20% shock. My question is, why doesnt the damage increased if I add 50% shock effectiveness? Because that is what is happening

Here is a simple test. Beacon of Ruin is selected. "Enemy is shocked" is selected. I have a flask with '50% increased shock effect'. It doest nothing to the DPS.

From what I understand, the checkbox for "Enemy is Shocked" applies the maximum value of shock (50% increased damage taken).

Checking the "Enemy is Shocked" box can be misleading sometimes if your damage doesn't quite hit the threshold needed for full effectiveness.

Again, this is taken from the same wiki page and explains it better than I could:

The base duration of shock is 2 seconds and the damage increase scales relative to the amount of Lightning damage dealt to the enemy's maximum life. Increased damage from shock is capped at 50% at 10% of the target's maximum life dealt by Lightning damage, scaling down to 0% at no damage. Hits below the minimum threshold of 1% effect are discarded,[1] effectively requiring a hit of 0.2% enemy maximum life. As an example, The Shaper has approximately 20 000 000 life. Minimally shocking The Shaper requires a single hit of 40 000 lightning damage.

Most important bits:

Increased shock effect will reduce the threshold required to reach the cap. For example, with 100% increased Shock effect, a hit that deals 5% of the target's maximum health or more in Lightning damage will apply shock for 50% increased damage.

If that is the case, then it is explained
