Does it work when you write a file and then play it in dablin_gtk?

k-otixxx commented 6 years ago

I didn't try yet!

basicmaster commented 6 years ago

Due to the username used at the shell prompt, I guess you use DABlin on a common notebook, is this correct? It would be great if you could write the na2ni output into a file and play that file with dablin_gtk. And provide the file, if the issue persists, of course.

k-otixxx commented 6 years ago

I use Enigma2 linux satellite receiver with eti-tools and dabstreamer embedded in the image. On the laptop with Dablin i try to stream eti streams from receiver. Ubuntu OS also have installed packages eti-tools . All works , but with freezes in sound . Could anybody post example how to write the na2ni output into a file?

andimik commented 6 years ago

After na2ni

> file.eti

And then

dablin_gtk file.eti
k-otixxx commented 6 years ago

Absolutely perfect sound without any freezes: When output to file and then play in Dablin everything is OK.

k-otixxx commented 6 years ago

On 4,8 East and 12,5 West when i record and then play with Dablin No problems, but live from these muxes freezes continued. On 3,1East greek packet ERT freezes are minimal. Something is wrong with SDL libraries maybe...

Let me try in the next days as well

basicmaster commented 6 years ago

This seems to be an issue with DABlin's flow control under certain circumstances:

This "message burst" can happen, when at first no ETI frames are received, but after some time (e.g. after the whole chain with wget returns ETI frames) a bunch of ETI frame is received at once. The reason is the internal flow control that is required for the correct reception rate.

Up to now the flow control timer started right at the start of DABlin, but I pushed a change that starts this timer only when the first ETI frame is received. This might be enough to fix your issue.

Could you please check with the new version on the next branch?

k-otixxx commented 6 years ago

Yes :) i will test it ! I must to compile again? or... I am new to GIT , maybe : $ git checkout -b [name_of_your_new_branch]

basicmaster commented 6 years ago

Exactly; you have to compile again. With just git checkout next, you can change to the next branch.

k-otixxx commented 6 years ago

I am very happy :) Everything works perfect with next branch! Thank you very much for fast response!

Previous version was :DABlin v1.8.0 - capital DAB experience Now :DABlin v1.8.2 - capital DAB experience Previous version was from precompiled packages for Ubuntu. Now i was compiled from source.

Great to hear that the problem is fixed!

maceyldn commented 9 months ago

Seeing this happen again, on ubuntu 20.04 and 22.04 in wsl2. Exactly the same problem.

maceyldn commented 9 months ago

for anyone reading this, i got it working again by running.

wsl --shutdown

and reopened the wsl2 session, audio came good, looks to be an issue with wsl2 audio handling
