Sure. I already have a semi transparent stain for the exterior glu-lams: H. Exterior Wood Stain: Cabots semi-transparent stain; Olympic semi-transparent water based acrylic stain. I'd prefer that over a polyurethane. Although then you might want to continue the color of the semi-transparent stain into the interior so that the glu-lams are the same color inside as out. Nothing wrong with doing that.

Hi @tfodden,
Do you have any experience specing out exterior exposed glulams rafters?

...and any type of sealant (polyurethane, or other) that we might need to seal them-- i know you have to be sensitive to compatibility between sealer the glulam's adhesives.
Thanks, Ryan
