Hi Everyone,

Thanks for a great second session last Wednesday. Thank you to Ileana Fenwick for guest teaching about Data Strategies for Future Us and open dialogue during the Q&A! Below is a light digest of Call 2, including a reminder for your Seaside Chat and additional Co-Working time before our Call 3 on Friday, September 14th. Looking forward to seeing you then!

Have a good week, Devan, Tina, Corey, and Anna

Goals: We discussed team culture and data strategies for future us, with special guest Ileana Fenwick, PhD Candidate, Nye Lab, University of North Carolina

Task for next time:

  1. Have a Seaside Chat with your broader research group
  2. Continue your Pathway (focus on Now: your Trailhead)
    • Pathways spreadsheet (Make a copy in the PathwayShare Folder via File > Make a copy, if this does not work for you please email Anna)
    • Note: teams can approach this differently. Maybe the team has one pathway or multiple.
    • Consider adopting (or creating/iterating) a Code of Conduct for your research group, posting publicly (on your website, on GitHub, etc.)
    • Onboarding/how-we-work examples
    • Co-working: (optional). This is a time to come work on your own data science things, but also be able to talk things through and screenshare to get help from others. Upcoming Co-Working Session: Friday, September 9th, 10:00am - 11:00am.

Slide Decks: These are also available publicly from openscapes.org/series

A few lines from shared notes in the Agenda doc: There were lots of positive Seaside Chat experiences!
