Hi All,

Thanks for a great first session last Friday. Our team commented how engaged everyone was, especially in the Google Docs, and heard recurring themes of consistency and collaboration. Below is a light digest of Call 1, including a reminder for your Seaside Chat and an additional optional Co-Working time before our Call 2 on Friday, October 1st. Looking forward to seeing you then!

Have a good week,

Devan, Tina, Corey, and Anna

Digest: Cohort Call 1 [ 2022-SWRCB ]

CohortCall Google folder - contains video recordings and completed agendas openscapes.github.io/2022-swrcb - Cohort webpage
MS Team Channel - Water Boards Teams Channel Slack We sent invitations to the Openscapes Slack Organization so that you can connect further with our Cohort (private channel) and with the Openscapes Community. Please introduce yourselves in the welcome channel!

Goals: We started working towards a common understanding of the Openscapes mindset and what your pathway forward looks like for your team.

Task for next time: Have a Seaside Chat with your research group to explore/practice GitHub.

  1. Attend the GitHub Clinic or review the recording (posted in our Cohort Folder Wednesday midday); in your Seaside Chat discuss how you might use GitHub as a team

  2. Seaside Chat. Talk with your cohort team about how you want to do this, use whatever communication works.

    • Start your Pathway: Focus on where you are Now (your trailhead). Note, teams can approach this differently. Maybe the team has one pathway or multiple.
    • Pathways Sheet (File > Make a copy)
    • After discussing things, post a new issue to the cohort repo that summarizes your Seaside chat. This is a chance to keep practicing with Issues and is another way to connect across teams during our Cohort. We can assist if you need more help – see next:
  3. Co-working: Thursday, Sept 30, 12:15-1pm ET (optional). This is a time to come work on your own things, but also be able to talk things through and screenshare to get help from others. Check your emails for Calendar Invites with Zoom links.

These are also available publicly from openscapes.org/series

A few lines from shared notes in the Agenda doc:

What you're already doing aligning with the Openscapes Mindset

Goals throughout the Cohort

@cclatterbuck here is the digest template I used from the 2021 FDD cohort. I updated links and modified the obvious things. I also added links to the other FDD digests so that Devan and Tina can use those as a reference for future digests.
