Thanks for a great first session last Friday. Our team commented how engaged everyone was, and how the future self idea really resonated with so many. Below is a light digest of Call 1, including a reminder for your Tasks before our Call 2 on May 21. We’re looking forward to seeing you then!

Goals: We started working towards a common understanding of the Openscapes mindset, better science in less time, and what your pathway looks like for you and your team.

Task for next time: Have a Seaside Chat, Create a Github Account & start your Pathway

• 1) Have a Seaside Chat with your broader research group
• 2) Start your Pathway: Focus on where you are Now (your trailhead).
  • Pathways Sheet (File > Make a copy)
  • Upload to the PathwayShare FOLDER folder before Call 2
  • Review your colleagues’ Pathways
• 3) Review your team’s writeup for the Openscapes website
• 4) Create a GitHub username and share on Slack.
  • See advice on creating a good username
  • Email us if you have trouble accessing or prefer not to optionally join Slack

• Although we’re from diff disciplines and backgrounds, we all have shared interests re data

• For a year now, my lab group has alternated lab meetings between DEI topics and skills sessions. All the while, I kept saying “They aren’t separate”, but couldn’t express how and why. Today I feel like you’ve made my two halves a whole. Thank you!
