Can I get to the old web page? #26

Sports Fans! The new Perl documentation page, however pretty, does not meet my needs. I usually use the Perl web page for a reference manual. On the old page I could just look up a topic like "syswrite" or "-X" and I am taken right to it. On the new page, I don't know how to search for topics like this. When I am in the lab and do not have my Perl library with me, it was convenient to lookup specific items from the old site. Now I cannot do that. Can I get back to the old site? ---jjh

@jjhatt try http://perldoc.pl - it may work better for you

Karen, Wow, thanks for the quick reply! On our lab machines we are often limited to what can and cannot be installed. Since I do not have perldoc loaded on my targets, the old Perl web site was very helpful. Do you have a search function that I just don't see? ---jjh

Note that https://perldoc.pl is a website, not a script.

You can download offline copy of old site for Perl 5.22 from Wayback Machine. Search feature works even offline (very clever one).

Anselmo, Thank you so much for your reply. I will consider grabbing a copy of the old site, if I really need it. As I use it more, I'm getting the hang of https://perldoc.pl/perl and right now this web page seems to meet my needs.

Thanks again! ---jjh

For reference, in case somebody would have a preference for the old style, Perldoc::Server would run the ancient perldoc.perl.org website based on your local Perl installation.

It's a Catalyst application and provide search.
