Describe the bug Every time I try to make a call, or even if I just open up the preferences to display the mic/call ring/call audio settings, I see the message "“Android Messages” would like to access the microphone.". I allow it, but the next time the message pops up again.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior: Click preferences Allow microphone use Repeat

Expected behavior Does not ask for permissions after the first time.

So the problem is non persistent memory of accepting permission to use the devices? Not sure if this is on my end or googles. I do not have a way to debug this as I do not have google fi sorry. I can do some googling when I get some free time.

I'm just adding a new Google Fi account to my family plan for my wifi hotspot. Happy to temporarily give you access to that for debugging if you'd like

PS if you're interested, I'll contact you via the email you've got here on github and we can sort it out...

I am having the same issue - I am also happy to provide any debug/logs, etc, if that'd help. When I restart or refresh the client, I get the prompt 4-5 times.

I also have this issue each time I receive a text and I'm not on Google Fi. Is there a place in the codebase to disable this access? I'd love to make my own temporary fork that totally disables audio input, but I don't see where this permission gets requested.

If I have some time I will look into this. Also open to patches if people figure something out.
