@4sfaloth sorry for taking so incredibly long to get around to this. But the change isn't official wording -- so the question is, do we put out SRD wording verbatim or do we start making judgement calls on rules clarifications?
Looking at the referred line, it's clearly a snippet/summary of the full RAW text... so I'm wondering what would be better. Would this cause problems at a table because it's not RAW or would it be appreciated? Am I hand wringing over a non-issue? xD
@codeGlaze no apologies need I imagine you must be pretty busy. I'm sorry to have taken so long to get back at this myself
I believe your concerns make sense: I have edited it now so that it is a snippet/summary of the RAW text, but clearly stating it does not work on self
"When you cast an evocation spell that affects other creatures that you can see, you can choose a number of them equal to 1 + the spell’s level. The chosen creatures automatically succeed on their saving throws against the spell, and they take no damage if they would normally take half damage on a successful save.
I believe this should your address your concerns, while also providing more clarity?
Thanks :) The last half of that description is super important and definitely wasn't condensed properly. 👍😀
Any others stand out?
Any others stand out?
I just happened to notice this one while playing. If I notice others I'll try to do other MRs. Fine to approve & merge as is?
Yeah, I thought I did already. Sorry, doing now.
The current wording on Sculpt Spells
can choose up to 1 + spell's level creatures to automatically save against your evocation spells and take no damage
does not make it clear that it cannot be used on self. The change should make that clearcan choose up to 1 + spell's level creatures **(other than self)** to automatically save against your evocation spells and take no damage
For reference, here is the roll20 entry on this with the relevant bits highlighted:
