Define Committe Chair #13

Closed bmejias closed 9 years ago

Dear fellow bees of the marketing committee,

I'm opening this issue so that you guys can define a Committee Chair. There was also an email related to this sent by Marsbard. As a reminder, this is what it is said on our by-laws about the Chair: "Each committee must select a committee chair. The committee chair keeps things on track, delegates tasks, and reports progress to the community. How the chair is selected is up to the committee. If more than one person feels strongly that they should be chair, the committee shall put the matter to a vote".

The first task of the Chair would be to send me a report of the activities and plans by the Summit in London. That is next week. So, please try to come up with a name and a short report. The report should not be more than 1 page.

Thanks in advance, cheers Boriss aka Bee Mejias

Hi Marketing team,

Thank you Boriss for the reminder. Here is my point of view on the three topics to address before the Summit.

1/ Chair member As you should have seen, I'm not a very active bee (tons of projects, family to take care of, ...). Thus, I think I won't be able to be the committee chair for the moment. Who candidates ?

2/ Plan to achieve goals Goals of our committe are (copy/paste of Github committe page) :

  1. Collect and publish customer stories from those using CE and the Order-specific distribution
  2. Figure out how SI's should be listed
  3. Proactively seek out individuals and companies who meet the criteria
  4. Try to get speaking slots at conferences
  5. Find people to donate marketing schwag.
  6. Responsible for the social accounts. Could be combined with the web site.

I think its more simple to start accomplishing the job in our local areas. As I leave in France, I would be able to focus on the french customers, SI, ... And in France, to promote a subject, the best is that materials are translated in french. So here is the first step of what I could call "French OOTB Marketing Plan" :-) : translate the web site in french (and maintain translation, of course). I'm not sure how we can proceed to integrate some other languages in the web site but we could discuss about it. Do you agree with that or do you prefere thinking more "globally" on the way to achieve our goals ?

3/ Report on what has been done I didn't do anything for the committee :-( But I noticed the following actions (thanks a lot !!!) :

Best regards, Charles

Hi team,

Thanks Charles for preparing a report. You are the most responsible person in our committee :)

Some comments from my side:

  1. Chair member I can become a chair if noone else is interested in this. I'm not sure I'll have enough time for it, but I'll try.
  2. Goals of our committe are:
    1. Collect and publish customer stories from those using CE and the Order-specific distribution
    2. Figure out how SI's should be listed (I believe we already did it)
    3. Proactively seek out individuals and companies who meet the criteria
    4. Try to get speaking slots at conferences
    5. Find people to donate marketing schwag.
    6. Responsible for the social accounts. Could be combined with the web site.
    7. NEW Organize Alfresco&&OOTB meetups, start our series of webinars/TechTalks

I don't think that we are ready to translate a website to other languages. It sounds good, but it's more helpful to translate tutorials and articles to local languages. In any case we have not so many content on the website, and after we will add 50+ tutorials, PSN members, addons, then we can translate it.

  1. What has been done
    1. logo and t-shirt design
    2. slot on Alfresco Summit in London to tell about the Order (thanks to Richard)
    3. Published first success story
    4. I believe we figured out a list of criteria to list SI/freelancers on the website. (summary: show your customers who are happy with you or show us the code of your customizations (free add-ons?), so we can check that you really understand how to work with Alfresco from technical point of view)
    5. First members of PSN are published
    6. regularly update of the website and twitter -- new members (BTW, now they have profiles) and pages, news
    7. committee mailing list (http://www.xtreamlab.net/mailman/listinfo/ootb-mkt)

Hi Oksana,

Since the committee chair has been defined, thanks for the taking the role, I think you can close the issue. I'm not doing it now because you guys were discussing the report on this issue too. But close it whenever you think you guys are done with it.

cheers
