Hi Tracers,

I am delighted to announce the latest RFC on governance for the OriginTrail Parachain. The primary objective of this document is to propose a governance implementation plan for our OriginTrail Parachain. By introducing governance on the Parachain, we will be able to remove the sudo pallet, which currently holds administrative privileges. This will result in a more decentralized ecosystem where the community has a more significant say in the decision-making process.

All in all a great first OTP-centric RFC by using Polkadot Governance 1.0 as a model to kick start OriginTrail Parachain's Governance. I urge all OTP token holders to provide their feedback on this RFC as it becomes the foundation to all future changes on the parachain.

The only thing I would like to ask is when the council member voting will take place.

I don't believe that 5 council seats is sufficient, especially considering that the team will likely require 2 or 3 of them. 7 seats would be superior, in my option.

@Valcyclovir Thank you for your question regarding council member voting for the OriginTrail Parachain Governance Proposal. Once the network is sufficiently bootstrapped and stabilized, a referenda will be started to move General council to the Elected Council phase where the candidacy of councilors is open, and councilors are elected by public voting. We will provide updates as we move forward with this process.

@DalSlacker Thank you for your comment on the council seat numbers for the OriginTrail Parachain Governance Proposal. We appreciate your input. Initially, we have planned to have 5 council seats to ensure faster runtime upgrades on the Parachain. However, the number of seats will be increased in the future to further decentralize the governance structure.
