Hospitality: Guest should feed addiction #520

A guest arrived with massive alcohol addiction, but also brought 7 beers. However, she would not drink them or eat any food and ended up incapacitated from alcohol withdrawal and malnutrition. I had to rescue them, then queue up an operation to have them fed a beer and some food.

This changed them from being a guest to a trader, and they decided to leave the map. They gained a question mark over their head with the trade option, and the color of the name under the character changed to cyan. I assume that part is normal, since it has happened before where once someone is downed, they became a trader and left the map as soon as they were healed.

On top of that, (not a bug) she was 98 years old with a bad back, was frail, had malnutrition and a stab scar in the torso which made her so slow (0.4c/s) that it took her 2 days to try to exit the map. She wound up going berserk, attacking my pet Thrumbo and finally starving to death before she could leave the map even though she had 3 survival meals in her inventory.

Is there a reason that she would not drink her own beer? I did not see any way to set drug restrictions. Why wouldn't she eat her meals? Her food restrictions allowed all types of meals and pemmican.

I'm thinking there are some errors going on on your end. So I'm not sure I can do anything here.

I got this too the other day. Guests came with a nicotine addition and cigarettes (Jecs tobacco mod continued) but wouldn't smoke one. I did notice that I was able to select the pawns' Gear tabs and make them consume it through there. [edit: That is wrong; I tested it today and found that I must have done it through Character Editor.]

Interestingly enough, on a colony I was playing last year (so multiple releases of Hospitality ago), I had a handful of guests over the in-game years who would do nothing but sit and binge on whatever they brought. One of them would often (but not always) bring liquor and drink til passing out, then drink some more when she woke up--and she wasn't even an alcoholic.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't work due to your mod configuration or the state of your savegame.The fact that you can make them consume drugs via their gear menu sounds like you have at least one mod meddling with consumption.

In case you didn't see my edit, l checked it again yesterday when one of the same pawns came for a visit and yeah, her inventory list displayed normally for a guest (i.e. no drop or consume buttons). I definitely forced consumption with character editor.

I use Pharmacist, Smart Medicine, and Drug Response (Continued), but nothing that modifies consumption of recreational drugs or drug policies. Nor do I use anything generally funky-f**ked like RimThreaded or Time Control. I really don't think it's my load order either since I've spent quite a bit of time hand-sorting everything.

Well, it might be a problem with the guest's drug policy. That's about as much as I can say without a log.
