No need to package a new release just for an updated ReadMe. :wink:
I know what you mean. I was hesitant to use markdown files for a while myself.
I figure markdown would be more consistent with other projects we've already switched to markdown for. Plus, it makes the GitHub pages look nicer. In terms of standard, I'd say markdown files have become pretty standard due to the GitHub support, and most users probably look more for the ReadMe
name, rather than the extension. And yes, the markdown format is quite easy to read just as standard text files, even without special formatting. That alone makes their standard formatting style desirable.
Rename ReadMe.txt to ReadMe.md. Update to use markdown.
