Remove Twilight Zone #114

Closed CoWinkKeyDinkInc closed 10 years ago

CoWinkKeyDinkInc commented 10 years ago

Although it promises PVP with potion-focused combat, the map does not make the players spread out well enough to make it useful. Most of the action remains in spawn, and it really isn't that fun.

Matic0B commented 10 years ago

I am neutral on this. There are pros and cons.

MrBloxley commented 10 years ago

I agree that it should be removed.

itsmiiolly commented 10 years ago

This map has a rating of 3.54.

Matic0B commented 10 years ago

Actually Im no longer neutral. I agree it should be removed. Even tho it has potions and all its just not designed all that well.

Mikeg542 commented 10 years ago

To me, it looks like the map was made, and then potion PvP thrown on top of it - rather than a map made for PvP to begin with

ghost commented 10 years ago

Funerea and Twilight Zone were the only two potion pvp maps in the rotations. Funerea was already removed, don't remove TZ along with it. At least leave it until we can find a suitable PotPvP map to substitute for it.

Electroid commented 10 years ago

I don't think we need to keep Twilight just because there would be no PotPvP maps left. I agree with its removal as well.

Electroid commented 10 years ago

@OvercastNetwork/mapdevs Any other thoughts?

Tywnis commented 10 years ago

I think a kit change can make it better. Should i try some things out ?

ghost commented 10 years ago

I agree, it should be removed. Unless the kits will be changed it's time to remove it.

Brottweiler commented 10 years ago

The problem with Twilight Zone is IMO that potions is kill reward. The map was way more fun when people dropped potions on death, but that would add up and eventually lag due to the entities.

Now when potions are kill rewards you're almost bound to run out of potions. Not only does only one player get potions when they kill a player, you get so little. When potions dropped I would run into a bunch potions on the ground all the time, now you run out of potions.

I think the spawnkit is fine.

CoWinkKeyDinkInc commented 10 years ago

The armor kit should be changed to a diamond chest-plate with the rest iron armor, I think most people just want to avoid combat because of the ender pearls and health potions and speed.

ghost commented 10 years ago

Remove enderpearls and reduce potion dropping (but have potion dropping in the map). I know this isn't Badlion or Kohi or anything, but a lot of players do enjoy PotPvP, so I don't think we should remove it from the servers completely. If anything it should be changed.

Brottweiler commented 10 years ago

@ieatboulders2 How would you go by reducing potion dropping, but still have potions drop on death?

ghost commented 10 years ago

@Brottweiler eh, now that I'm looking at it all potions are under the tag in item remove. scrap that idea :/

I would still go about removing enderpearls, but as for potions I would just increase the killreward at this point. ie - instead of getting 3 health pots or whatever, you would get a few more. This way you can use them more freely without running out easily.

Brottweiler commented 10 years ago

@ieatboulders2 Even if you could remove specific potions, what would you remove? I guess debuffs? Have debuffs on killreward? But there would still be lots of potions dropped...

More of everything really. Probably need one or two more speed, and health pots. It's better with potion drops, but it's not worth it cause of the lag.

ghost commented 10 years ago

@Brottweiler I'd remove almost (almost) everything except health probably. Speed lasts long enough for a player to get a kill and earn another speed in a kill reward, which will ensure they'll never run out.

Electroid commented 10 years ago

In terms of removing the map, it's ratings have platued but high enough to stay. A update for the kill-rewards in enroute.
