I don't agree, I really didn't enjoy Smog.
It was an all out skybridge war. Rushing through ground (tunneling) or over ground was indeed harder, then on most maps, but because the front lines had such a height-difference everyone would end up in a skybridge war anyhow. Defending is therefore near not encouraged, making everyone go to the front lines, which just increases the skybridge war-intensity.
I still disagree with it's addition. I know it was 'innovative' towards other CTW's, but innovation doesn't always mean improvement, likewise this map.
Add it but extremely lower the height limit and maybe make it even lower at frontlines
@matic0basle Since Theta said that he won't lower the height limit it won't happen.
And while I'm at it, I think that it shouldn't be in the rots (or at least the current version).
Lowering height limit by 10 blocks and adding better wool room gear. Any thoughts?
@ThetaMC Lowering it to 135 won't be enough. I'd recommend to make regions with different height levels (e.g. like the lowered build height over the river on the Nile). This would scale a lot better concerning the big height difference between the frontlines and the base/wool room area.
@firstvirus92 I wanted to do that, but no one is willing to complete the regions. @ItsMiiOlly ..?
@firstvirus92 I think the regions would make the map confusing. @ThetaMC Lowering the height limit to around where the top layer is would work wonders, it would mean people could easily counter it from the top of the map, making it not so powerful and ground rushing would be more prominent.
@ThetaMC you can also post an issue with the map update, so the MapDevs only have to check and merge the changes. Saving them some time could initially speed up the process.
Post the update for the map, ask for some play tests, then we can consider this again for rotations.
I honestly don't know why it was removed, Theta_ said the reason was low ratings?
Personally, I find this to be one of the better CTWs that exists at the moment, especially considering it manages to remain vanilla and still play well. I think that it is one of the better maps at the moment, because its generally hard to rush, due to uphill and it often see multi-level game-play. I'd really like to see this added back into rotations.
