have you think about adding support for spektrum satellite? The protocol can be 
found in RCGroups and some source code can be found in mikrocopter's site.

We already have support for Spektrum satellite usage via alternate firmware for 
the 328 processor.  Code is in the repository.   We will probably not add it to 
the main firmware as all serial ports are already used for "standard" purposes. 
 Feel free to adapt the 328 code for use on the 1280 for your personal use if 
you want to go that way.
