Altitude Reporting Errors #334

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Using APM mission planner (the latest update) update firmware to Ardupilot
Mega 2.012-Beta

2.Connect xbee link, reset board, open HK GCS.

3.Observe reported altitude reading from GCS

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
A steady or close to steady altitude value reported by the GCS

Observing an oscillating reported value of +/- 50 meters.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
APM 2.x
APM 1280
Windows Vista

Please provide any additional information below.

Testing the pressure sensor through the CLI the values hold steady to +/- 2
meters

Looking at the GPS data the altitude values hold steady to +/- 5 meters

I am wondering if the reported value is a bug in the telemetry or the GCS. I'm
thinking the value that APM actually "sees" is the value I have seen in the
pressure transducer CLI testing (I believe the altitude mix is set to all
pressure sensor altitude) I encountered the same problems with APM 1.x before
(Changing the altitude mix variable did not change the output during previous
APM 1.x troubleshooting). Any thoughts?

Problem Solved... Updated to the newest HK GCS. I think there was an issue
between the MAVLINK telemetry and the older version of HK GCS.
