Is it okay to skip app academy and start with CS50?

Do whatever meets your personal goals. It is ok to start wherever makes the most sense for you personally. That said, App Academy is fantastic, if you skip it in Tier 0, you'd be well served to add it as a specialization later at the end of one of the other tiers.
