Hi. I've recently built QGIS@2.18.20 and realised that profile tool is not compatible with it. Wondering if any 2.18 release compatible with it at all (so that I can compile that versions insetead)? Thanks.

I can zip you an almost working version for 2.18.

That would be great! Thanks! Would it be possible to attache a patch file to this thread instead of zip? Thanks.

Either way is fine.

You can easily understand that I will not waste time to fix this plugin for an unmaintained version of QGIS. Profiletool works fine on QGIS 3.16.4.

profiletool.zip

I tested it on Qgis 2.18.14. You can not use vector layer with this version as it causes an instant crash of qgis.

If it still don't work, I suggest you to switch to qgis 3.16.4.

Thanks @nicogodet for the prompt response and sorry for my late reply. My coworkers will test the plugin soon to see if it works for us. Since 2.18 is a long term release (LTR), we were hoping our favorite plugins like Profiletool would be tested to work and available. Switching to QGIS@3 is not an option in the short term for us since it requires python3 and it is not easy for an enterprise like us to migrate.

You are wrong. 2.18 is not LTR any more since at least 2 years. 3.16 is LTR since 19/02/2021.
