update links, ESGF references on CMIP5 pages #290

brief context: I noticed an email on the esgf-user list that perhaps could be answered from reading here: https://pcmdi.llnl.gov/mips/cmip5/ but there are outdated links. (1) I recall that there are outdated links to pcmdi9. All such instances should be changed to esgf-node (2) nci link is broken (moved to different server (3) esgf.org links need to be updated (esgf.llnl.gov?) And possibly more...

@sashakames I made a pull request that fixes the issues you have mentioned. The wiki links all seem to be hosted on the esgf.github.io's Github wiki but links for P2PArchiveView and CMIP5NodeStatus don't exist. They instead point to their parent directory Cmip5Status.

Are there any places where I could find the P2P Archive View and CMIP5 Node Status? (assuming they still exist)

sashakames commented 5 years ago

I've developed a "Datanodes Status page" in CoG and we could link to that once its up in production. I have no idea what the P2PArchiveView is supposed to show. Either someone in PCMDI could clarify if something is needed (unlikely with the emphasis now on CMIP6) or (and in the meantime), we remove the reference altogether.

wow that page https://github.com/ESGF/esgf.github.io/wiki/Cmip5Status is very outdated. I'll suggest a replacement...

@sashakames @mauzey1 @taylor13 I think that updating the CMIP5 and earlier pages will be a never ending feat and would put a relatively low priority on this work. Having said that, if changes can be made trivially quickly, then please go ahead

I think there is still much interest in CMIP5 and would encourage updates.

@sashakames is your original issue addressed by changes? Or do we have a couple more tweaks to complete?
